Sunflower seeds are the edible seeds of the sunflower, a plant first cultivated in North America and later spread worldwide. They stand out for their high vitamin E content: 35.17 mg per 100 g. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. The seeds also provide folate, magnesium, selenium, iron and zinc, plus plant-based fats that give them a full, nutty flavour.
